Inclement Weather Policy
Last Updated: Feb 23, 2025
At Journey to STEAM, we understand that weather-related cancellations can be frustrating, and we strive to balance flexibility with the realities of running high-quality programs. Our goal is to provide a great experience for families while maintaining a clear and fair approach to unexpected closures.
How We Handle Inclement Weather:
- One Cancellation Per Program – If a class is canceled due to inclement weather (e.g., snow, ice, severe storms) and cannot be rescheduled or extended, that class will not be refunded. This single cancellation allowance helps us keep our programs running smoothly while ensuring families understand what to expect.
- Beyond One Cancellation – If additional weather-related cancellations occur, we will make every reasonable effort to reschedule, extend, or adjust programming to ensure students receive the full experience. While we cannot guarantee makeup dates, we will communicate all available options.
- Following School & Venue Closures – If the hosting school or facility is closed due to weather, our program will also be canceled for that day. We follow their lead for safety.
Clear & Timely Communication – We will notify families of weather-related closures via email and/or text as soon as possible. We recommend checking school and local weather updates when inclement weather is expected.

Why This Approach?
Running an engaging, high-quality STEAM program requires careful scheduling, staffing, and materials preparation. While we would love to accommodate every unexpected change, adding extra days or rescheduling often creates logistical challenges for schools, families, and our team. This policy allows us to maintain consistency while keeping customer service at the heart of our approach.
We appreciate your understanding and partnership in making Journey to STEAM a fantastic learning experience, rain or shine!
